for the New Year

2019 will be here in 5 days. At the New Year, after the last refrain of Auld Lang Syne fades, and the cheering subsides, comes the sense of an opportunity for a fresh start and new beginnings - around the world, between family and friends, and personally.

Academy Massage Therapy is looking toward the new year ahead - with great anticipation and delight, as we introduce new treatment service choices to our clients.

The first week of January we are pleased to:

introduce Classical Homeopathy, with Nancy Graham - an individual holistic approach to health and wellness which considers the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Check our next week’s blog for the details.

And in the coming weeks we’ll be blogging:

about the benefits of East Indian Head Massage, with Kristy Kim - a relaxing treatment which focuses on the scalp, neck and shoulders, face and ears - to reduce stress, blood pressure and restore life balance.

and telling you more about Manual Osteopathy, with Koorosh Saxton - a therapy which considers the whole body and its imbalances - gently manipulating the anatomy and physiology, so the body can heal itself.

In the meantime, at the beginning of January - schedule “me” time for yourself once a week for the entire month. The choices can be anything you want them to be. Take a nice long bath, listen to music, go for a walk, or do something else for yourself. And after the month is over, see if you can continue to make “me” time a weekly habit, and maintain the practice every week, for the entire year!

“Me” time can also be scheduling a massage, and because it’s the beginning of the year - you might even want to consider scheduling your massages for the entire year ahead. Should you want to consult of the direction of your massage program - Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are a great time to do a consult and have a massage.

“We’re here to help make your 2019 the best it can be,” says Debby MacKenzie, owner of Academy Massage. “Please let us know what we can do for you!”

“We’ve got you’re back. We’re all about comfort and care for your mind. body and soul.”

- and other tips to surviving the season well

The holidays are just around the corner, and let’s face it - the rush is on from now until the end of the year. There’s the preparation, the events, and the dishes. But basically it’s do-able. Here’s some tips on surviving your season well, and ending the year on a high note.

Breathe - We know the holidays can be a real race. So, every day take a few moments for yourself to just - breathe. Breathe deeply and slowly. It is one of the easiest ways to lower your body’s stress levels.

Stay active - Take a quick trip to the gym. Go to one of Winnipeg’s wonderful parks and revel in snow covered trees. Walking around the block works, as well, or build a snowman. If it’s cold outside, a mall is a great and warm escape. Keeping your body moving is calming.

Stretch - There are many benefits to stretching. It encourages blood flow to the muscles that have contracted because of in-activity or stress. Stretching can be a simple way to relieve some of this tension.

Eating healthy - With so many tasty treats around at this time of year, consider eating as healthy as you can when it’s possible, and forgive yourself when you don’t or can’t. Have veggies, fruits and or pack of nuts in your pocket for the times you want a healthy snack.

Sleep - You’d be surprised how much the amount, and quality of sleep you get, affects your wellbeing. During the holidays, every once in a while try to get bed at a decent time and enjoy some solid sleep.

Schedule a massage - Give Academy Massage Therapy a call to schedule an appointment. During this busy time of year, a massage can give you the boost you need to finish the year strong.

By utilizing these tips you’re giving yourself the best advantage to being well throughout the holidays, and being able to enjoy the companionship of relatives, friends and neighbours.

“Holiday happiness needs to include you. We’re here to do that for the people you care about, as well as for you - during the festive season and throughout the entire year, ” says Debby MacKenzie, owner of Academy Massage.

Call Academy Massage, or check out our website for holiday hours.

Wishing you the blessings of the season to you and yours!

Much love,

It says you care
- the Academy Massage gift card

At Academy Massage Therapy we truly believe the gift of massage is one of the best presents you can give. Especially during the holidays.

Here are some reasons why -

It’s the perfect gift for people on your list who are hard to shop for. No one wants to buy a gift, just to buy a gift. Instead we want our gifts to be appreciated and valued. A massage is a gift everyone can use and benefit from.

One size fits all. Massage is great for everyone, it encompasses every life style, fashion sensibility, and age. There is no worry about finding the right size, fabric or color. Massage is one gift that suits everyone.

A massage is a gift of “me time”. Most of us have people in our lives who put everyone else first. When you give someone a massage, you are essentially giving them the motivation to take some time for themselves.

Massage is also a gift of well-being. Giving someone a massage - tells that person you care about their wellness.

For all the joy and celebration that the holidays are, it’s also a stressful time of the year. Giving the gift of massage is also giving the gift of relaxation, and who wouldn’t want to receive that.

In addition to promoting the many situations in which gift cards fit so well, Academy Massage continues to remind clients to remember to make complete use of their insured benefits before the end of the year.

“We’re all about bringing you and the people you care about - holiday happiness, during the festive season, and throughout the year,” notes Debby MacKenzie, Academy Massage owner.
