Massage
- and other tips to surviving the season well

The holidays are just around the corner, and let’s face it - the rush is on from now until the end of the year. There’s the preparation, the events, and the dishes. But basically it’s do-able. Here’s some tips on surviving your season well, and ending the year on a high note.

Breathe - We know the holidays can be a real race. So, every day take a few moments for yourself to just - breathe. Breathe deeply and slowly. It is one of the easiest ways to lower your body’s stress levels.

Stay active - Take a quick trip to the gym. Go to one of Winnipeg’s wonderful parks and revel in snow covered trees. Walking around the block works, as well, or build a snowman. If it’s cold outside, a mall is a great and warm escape. Keeping your body moving is calming.

Stretch - There are many benefits to stretching. It encourages blood flow to the muscles that have contracted because of in-activity or stress. Stretching can be a simple way to relieve some of this tension.

Eating healthy - With so many tasty treats around at this time of year, consider eating as healthy as you can when it’s possible, and forgive yourself when you don’t or can’t. Have veggies, fruits and or pack of nuts in your pocket for the times you want a healthy snack.

Sleep - You’d be surprised how much the amount, and quality of sleep you get, affects your wellbeing. During the holidays, every once in a while try to get bed at a decent time and enjoy some solid sleep.

Schedule a massage - Give Academy Massage Therapy a call to schedule an appointment. During this busy time of year, a massage can give you the boost you need to finish the year strong.

By utilizing these tips you’re giving yourself the best advantage to being well throughout the holidays, and being able to enjoy the companionship of relatives, friends and neighbours.

“Holiday happiness needs to include you. We’re here to do that for the people you care about, as well as for you - during the festive season and throughout the entire year, ” says Debby MacKenzie, owner of Academy Massage.
